When given the chance, Mother Nature can work miracles.
Upon purchasing Three Forks Ranch, David Pratt quarterbacked the heavy lifting on the most extensive, privately financed river restoration project in the history of America.
He then passed the ball to Mother Nature to complete the healing process, by revegetating the banks, recruiting the hatches, and beginning the natural reproduction process. The result: Fly Fishing Nirvana.
The upper 16 miles of the Little Snake River system has been transformed into what may be the premier trout stream on the planet. As the project matures, the riparian plants, terrestrials, bug-life, and trout thrive in the renewed habitat. Stone Flies, Blue-winged Olives, PMDs, Hoppers, Caddis, Salmon Flies, Yellow Sallies, Blue Damsels, and Black Ants swarm the skies above The Little Snake River from June through October. Hungry Rainbow, Brown and Brook trout churn the water, harvesting this buzzing delicacy.
You can also take your chance at hooking the ever-elusive Colorado River Cutthroat Trout. Three Forks Ranch and The Little Snake River, located 40 miles North of Steamboat Springs Colorado, welcome fly fishing guests to the catch-and-release experience of a lifetime.
Complimenting the 16 miles of private river fishing, guests enjoy spring-creek-like fishing on 30 oxbow lakes. This slow moving water, running parallel to the Little Snake, offers flat water and big, hungry trout. Godfather and Gold Blossom Lakes round out our fly fishing menu. Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and the voracious Tiger Trout await your tempting fly. Nestled in the mountains of the ranch, a great day of fishing in a beautiful setting adds unmatched variety to your vacation.
Three Forks Lodge and five star dining awaits you at the end of your day. Soothing hottubs, relaxing massage, hot hors d'oeuvres and refreshing cocktails prepare you for your next day of world-class fly fishing on the Little Snake River.
For guests seeking a break from fishing, Three Forks offers guided horseback rides and ATV rides that explore the ranch and expose you to our wildlife and scenic vistas. Our Elk Ridge Sporting Clays Course also offers a pleasant diversion for our shooting guests.
